everything you need to know about badges, waypoints, and how to contribute
Every so often, the Fellowship Adventure map unrolls across your city screen, and for about six days our whole fellowship works toward the same goal: finishing the three stages and collecting a reward at the end of each. This guide explains what the event actually asks of you, which badges are the easy ones and which ones are bottlenecks, and what you personally can do — whether you've got five minutes a day or you're ready to rearrange your city for it.
the basics
A Fellowship Adventure is a timed, fellowship-wide event built around a shared adventure map. On the map, waypoints need to be unlocked by providing badges. Badges are deposited jointly by the whole fellowship, so even a quiet member who queues one production a day still moves the map forward. There is also a small inter-fellowship competition about which group can collect the most points.
Three stages, each harder than the last — and each ending in a treasure chest for everyone who contributed to the stage.
For the event's duration, you can access the adventure map (next to your avatar) - as long as you have unlocked the "Fellowship Adventure" reseach in chapter II, that is. This is where the adventure happens. And there will be an extra quest slot where you can collect 16 different badges.
Badges are produced automatically when you collect resources, recruit troops, solve encounters, etc.
Every badge you hold can be spent on a waypoint on the map. Once all required badges are spent on a waypoint, one or more new waypoints open up.
Clearing all the waypoints leading to a stage's chest rewards every member who deposited at least one badge toward that stage.
the badges
Some badges are very easy to produce and we always have way more than we need. Other badges are more critical and they can bottleneck our progress. So when you can, try to focus on the critical ones (most are produced through regular play, so it's not like you have to completely change what you doing). Some fellowships meticuously organize and plan what is needed and who is responsible for how many badges of each kind, but we are not that kind of fellowship - we all have a life. :)
Produce 25 beverages (2min or 5min production)
criticalProduce 10 advanced tools (3 hour production)
criticalProduce 10 baskets of groceries (9 hour production)
criticalProduce 5 toolboxes (24 hour production)

Not everyone needs to rebuild their city for a Fellowship Adventure. Below is a ladder of effort — start wherever fits your week, and climb it only as far as you want to.
odds and ends
The questions that tend to come up every time the map opens.
No. Whatever is left in your inventory disappears once the event closes, so it's worth spending down rather than hoarding."
No minimum. Contributing anything at all to a stage secures that stage's chest for you.
That's fine. Jump back in whenever you can. Even small contributions still count.
Usually, we try to do all waypoints in the first stage. Then, depending how it goes, we may stick to a certain path in stage 2 or stage 3 to make sure we reach the final chest.
